How Much Are You Worth with Johnny Depp?

I've always had a fascination with Johnny Depp. Who wouldn't? He's hot, smart (sounding at least) and totally sexy. Long hair, short hair, blonde or brunette...doesn't matter. Back in the mid 80's when 21 Jump Street came out I fell in love. I was also quite fascinated with TigerBeat, Bop and any other teeny-bopper magazine that came out. Off course we girls would trade off the pictures with each other and plaster them to our walls in our bedrooms. I had two fascinations. River Phoenix and Johnny Depp. River had a lot more pictures than Johnny Depp so he took the main wall in my room. Johnny however was a hard commodity to find. Fortunately most of my girlfriends were looking for pics of the Coreys and Kirk Cameron....in which I gladly exchanged for any pics of River or Johnny.
Anyway...I had the picture here in a frame. Yes...a huge fan. Years later...in fact it was 1995. I driving home from my first year of college. As I pulled into the driveway I noticed a couple of boxes of "junk" in the driveway. When I asked my mother what this was all about she said, "Oh I was just cleaning out the basement and thought I'd have that guy who owns the junk store come and get some stuff." I immediately noticed my handheld sand weights (which I never used) and bitched and moaned about how she could throw away stuff that wasn't even hers. In disgust she or I gave up and I think the boxes moved back into the basement OR the junk guy came and got them. I'm not really sure. I do know that he had ALREADY been there a took a load.
Then on one summer day my sister and I were bored and decided to hit the "junk store" and see if we could locate our old...well...junk. We laughed as we went in noticed old duffle bags, games and crap like that. As we rounded the corner she spots a picture frame and says, "What asshole would put a (magazine) picture of Johnny Depp in a frame?" I replied, "Um, that asshole was/is me and that's MY frame." I then looked at her and said, "Shit! I used to hide things behind picture frames like notes from friends or boyfriends so Mom would neb in...I wonder if there is something behind there?" So I grabbed the 2 1/2x3 frame and slid open the back to find....

A picture of myself.

My 6th grade picture to be exact.

Braces and all.

As I look over at my sister who is in tears and hiccupping, I thought...fuck. I have to buy this now. So I dolled out a quarter and bought myself...and Johnny...back. Though...I still think he's worth a lot more.

Maybe he'll read this somehow and we'll become pals...or lovers.

I'm Updated...

County Music Bonanza Verdict: Pretty good. I only wish I was a more avid fan as I wasn't that familiar with the songs. Verdict on the Crowd: HOT, HOT, HOT men....Wow. It was like being at a gay bar except I think these guys were straight. (And by gay bar...I don't mean Illusions in U'town...just a bunch of old Queens there with a few good lookings thrown in.) They all seriously looked like they dropped out of a Hollister ad. Yum!

I may do some short random postings (a couple a day hopefully) within the next week. This Girl will be sunning herself in Punta Cana as of Monday for 8 days. Yippee!! I seriously cannot wait to go.

I caught up on some movies.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Excellent. I LURRRVVVEE Johnny Depp and Tim Burton is always a good show. I'll probably see this again this week or when I get back. (I'll have to post the "Johnny Depp" story, too.

Sideways: Eh...that's where my thumb would be on a Siskel scale. Not good, but not bad. I don't think I'll watch it again.

Wedding Crashers: Funny. Very funny. (I think I wrote about this already.)

I (Heart) Huckabees: I (Hate) Huckabees. Dumb. Very dumb. Definitely runs a tie with Six Degrees of Separation. I couldn't turn it off...though I wanted too...because I thought, maybe, just maybe it'll get better. It didn't. 101 minutes wasted.

Spellbound: I'm watching this as I write. I don't think it's going to hold my attention. I never was (and still am not) a good speller. I follow the rule of "if I don't know how to spell it, I use a different word" rule...if spell check isn't around. Though...I'm very picky of spelling errors...which was part of my elimination process with Match.com. (Another reason why I'm still single I imagine.) tangent.

Other than that...I'm still awaiting a new job and new living conditions. I had an interview last week. (I'm not worried about "the jinx" Jay.) I think it went well , but I always think they go well. It's for a guidance position. Weirdest question: "How would you arrange your office?" I know they were getting at the "openess" factor of not having the desk as the barrier. So I gave them that answer...though...it really was the truth. Keep your fingers crossed or I'm really going to be a nasty bitch. Just kidding. I'm always a nasty bitch.

Okay...time to get some other stuff done and I'm getting to the pool by 12:30 today. I want to finish The Hollywood Dodo (or as I almost always call it "the Hollywood Dildo") before I leave. I could possibly finish it today. If you haven't read it, I recommend. (See Doug...I do like it!!)

I'll be posting some shorts today.

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy

I love that song. I just think the lyrics are funny. The tune isn't so bad either. (I'm not sure who even sings it.)

I'm heading to see Kenny Chesney today. I'm not really a fan, but there was an extra ticket. I'm all about the event. I remember once going to see the "Pittsburgh Bulls." They were a lacrosse team back in the early 90's. I didn't know dick about lacrosse (and still don't,) but it was fun to be at the game.

So today I head out to country music bonanza with Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Gretchen Wilson, Pat Green and Uncle Kracker. (All y'all loyal readers probably think I'm a Krack Head for going as country music isn't my normal genre of jam.) And what is Uncle Kracker doing there? Well...I've linked all of them for your viewing pleasure (and for my research of who I'm actually going to hear.) If you're going to be there, look for me....

I'll be the one in the cowboy hat.

Guilty Pleasure

I love Laguna Beach. I'm so happy it's back. Also finished Harry Potter 6. Very good. I won't spoil it...

"You're terrrrrible, Muriel"

Well...I made it through the wedding without my name being yelled over the mic for the bouquet toss...except this time the bride came to the table to get me.

I'm all for the bouquet toss. I used to love it. Running out there hoping that at some point I might catch it and be the next to get married. sure. It was great. But, I did catch the bouquet once. I was 23. I'm not married yet...so guess what? I'm over the bouquet toss. Have it. Have it all you want...but for Christ's sake. If someone hasn't come up when they call for it--they probably don't want to come up there. It's not as if they forgot. I never forgot about it. It was the first thing I thought of when going to weddings before...well, right after the bar and the cake.

Do I look that desperate? Is everyone feeling bad for me? "Oh get molly up here. Maybe she'll catch the bouquet and that will give her a push to get married." I understand the tradition of it...but next time folks...leave us late 20-somethings and up out of it. Don't you worry...we'll be there if we feel like it.

Other than that, the wedding was fun. The ceremony (noon) and reception (5:00) were far apart so Doug and I went and had a beer and saw "Wedding Crashers." Very funny. Silly, but funny. We looked kind of silly going in there with my dress and heels and his shirt and tie. But, hey...we were wedding hopping...ha. (I at least thought it was funny.) Thanks Doug...great wedding with you as usual!

No life changing event...I certainly didn't win the Powerball. Someday. Up next on the agenda I believe is the wave pool this weekend with a trip to the Gypsy. Then off to Punta Cana on the 8th....possibly a Cedar Point trip in between. (Looking forward to a corndog....mmm.)

Well...it's hot as balls outside so I'm going to take advantage of the pool...few days left until school starts. 30 to be exact. Powerball....where are you?

Horoscopes and New Readings

This will be short and sweet...those of you who know me or at least have been reading, you know my obsession with the supernatural. I once even in a drunk night left myself a Post-It note of a list of things to do..."Get shampoo. Pay credit card. Develop Psychic Ability." Yes folks. Quite embarassing, too when you wake up hungover on the couch and your roomate is staring at you with the Post-It in your hand. (Sadly...I was serious and still try to develop my abilities.) Anyway...a friend of mine from childhood gave me a new blog to read. So I lurked. Good stuff. Then I lurked some more (or s'more.) And, I found this....

Will it keep me from getting my cards read? Um, no...but it's a hell of a good story.

Oh yeah...last reading from Rebecca I was the card on the left in relationships...real open, eh? I think I'm heading more into the card on the right. (Really...I'm just having fun posting pictures.)

What's Goin' On...

I can't believe the summer is half way over. Maybe I'll win the Powerball on Wednesday and it will never be over.

Well...I just cancelled my membership to match.com. Thank goodness. Whether it was not the time for me or I'm just a loser, it just plain sucked. Wait...I'm not a loser...It's been documented.

Got my copy of HP and the Half-blood Prince. Have to say...pretty good so far. Actually, really good. Though I'm realizing I may have read The Order of the Phoenix a little too fast as I'm tapping my brain trying to remember things. I also received The Hollywood Dodo from Doug for my birthday. I hope to get into that next week.

Went camping this past weekend...good times. We canoed, ate, drank, were merry. It's the usual for us kids...paper bag or a palace...we can have a good time.

My friend Renee and her husband had their first baby this weekend. Nathan Charles. 8lbs. Whoa, baby! Congrats to them!

So my favorite card reader said that something "lifechanging" is going to happen from a 3 week timeline from the last reading (July 2.) This looks like this week/end sometime. My horoscope also heeds attention to this....(I'm feeling Powerball, but it probably will be something like a skin rash or trench mouth.)

Heading to my 3rd, yes 3rd wedding of the summer this weekend. Can we make it a THIRD time I'm called out over the mic for the bouquet toss? (Oh yeah...I forgot to blog about that...seems to happen so often that I assume it tradition with the cake cutting and stomping of the glass thing.) We will see. At least this time I have a date to take to the wedding. Thanks, D for being my usual great wedding date.

Those of you who know me well know that I have bizarre dreams and many a night. So last night I had dream that some strange man appeared in the back of my car and as I went to yell and scream my tongue became almost too big for my mouth and paralized in a sticking out position with my teeth clamped on it. Am I being warned to keep my mouth shut about something? Fat chance.

Keep checking the picture...I've been changing it according to moods, but the front page takes some time to catch up.

Has anyone watched the INXS search for a new front? I'm quite enjoying it.

Random Thoughts about Me.

Some random thoughts...

1. Tie for best rerun show....Cosby or The Wonder Years (though I haven't seen this rerun in a while.)
2. I was thinking about saying hello to someone and how I would say it and I actually did...outloud...by myself in the car.
3. I stood in the line at the deli today and talked to random people. Is that weird?
4. I added a picture to my profile...not sure why it's not coming up on the front page...I think I'll keep changing the pic of who I feel like for the day/week. If you know me well enough, you know why I chose the current one.
5. Keanu Reeves is still the worst actor known...but I do really like "A Walk in the Clouds."
6. I forgot how much I really like Queen until I heard a new car commercial yesterday.
7. While I know reality TV isn't that creative...I love it. The really bad stuff, too.
8. It takes an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop...does that mean if you did one lick per day it would be done in a year or do the licks have to be continuous to keep the lollypop wet and disolving?
9. The smell of anise could make me throw up....yet the I like the smell of skunks.

Woobie Woobie

So I'm hooked on the Andy Milonakis (sp?) show on Mtv...I LOVE that show. It's really stupid silly, but funny. The part with his dog cracks me up. If you haven't watched it the show is brief skits that are really stupid, but crack me up. Randomly it will break to his dog and he's cooing at it saying "woobie woobie." Then you see a bubble above the dog's head with "woobie" envisioning killing Andy.

So...here's my "Woobie" Neville....with the his stuffed animal "Teenage Neville" ...he also has a "Baby Neville." (Basically stuffed animals that look like him but are smaller in size...I know...pathetic, but if you have a dog..you know what I mean.

Hopefully more interesting stuff this weekend.

And...now I know how to put pics on so hopefully more fun pictures.

Die Hard Fan

Now this is fan-atic. I've told my out of town friends the dedication and love that Pittsburgh has for their sports teams...especially the Steelers. This guy....well, maybe now they'll send him his season tickets.

My DragQueen Name

Sugar Snatch
This is my Drag Queen name...I can't remember where I found it, but I'm sure if you google it something will come up.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I'm 29 today...Happy Birthday to me!!! It's been a great day. I've spent it exactly how I wanted. I woke up, walked the dog, put on the Today Show...Around 10:30 I thought...it's not too early for a glass of wine. Well, maybe too early for wine, so I had a couple bloody mary's and watched some SATC. I finally watched the alternate endings for the finale. OMG. I would have been so pissed had it been anything but how they ended it. I love that show.

So I didn't cry today...well, I did. But, only for the ending of SATC. (The finale always makes me cry.) I think I'm actually happy being 29 (I say that a little on edge.) This is the year of me. They should add me to the Chinese year thing. Rat, Dragon, Molly. I don't know why, but I have a feeling it's going to be a good year. I figure this....it can't get much worse than the past 3. They have been somewhat aweful. The trips and highs (sounds like I was on drugs...but, um, no) were great, but the lows and down times were not. I'm looking forward to new experiences and new things.

Okay...the drinks are catching up to me and I'm beat. I had a wonderful weekend with lots of friends and good times....I'll try to blog about all of it later in the week, but I'm beat.

Whodini-Whodogni

I'm slacking a bit, but I think my mind has been on hiatus. Went camping this weekend. It was fun...but REALLY hot. I went and picked up Neville (the dog) on Saturday and brought him up to the campground. I had a feeling he wouldn't be thrilled about it, but kept pouring water on him to keep him cooled until the sun went down. When it was time to go to bed, I coaxed him into the tent. (Yes, I slept in a tent.) He wasn't thrilled, but layed down on the blanket and I comforted him to sleep as he shook. Well, at aroung 10 til 6 in the morning Danni and I (we shared the hot box tent) woke up to hear someone unzipping the tent. "Who's breaking in?" I'm sure was the question that came to both of our minds. No one. The dog --now dubbed "Whodini"--unzipped the tent with his teeth and escaped. I couldn't believe it. Amusing, but oh shit. Now I have to catch the dog. (Let me remind you that Neville doesn't leave his leash for he tends to run the 40 yard dash...10 times....I guess that would be the 400, eh?) Anyway I eventually tricked him into the bathroom where he got a smack and attached him to the leash. I think if he could have figured out the way to walk home, he would have.

Other than that my birthday is looming. 5 days. Ugh. 29.

I'm also getting that awful feeling that I won't be moving out of U'town come September. Ugh. Ugh.

Well, I guess I'll just go and sulk at the pool...HA!

Cruise...Control It.

So I think Tom Cruise has just plain lost it. I suppose there always has to be a freak in the news and since Michael is taking hiatus by "not having sleepovers anymore" Tom is stepping in. The whole Katie Holmes thing...okay, weird, but people got over the Woody Allen and Sui Ni (sp?) thing. I'm willing to overlook the age difference, but the "in lust" attitude is getting annoying. It might even be weirder than Billy Bob Thorton's phobia of antique furniture and his "in f**k" relationship with Angelina. I'm using the "in ----" instead of "in love" because I don't get it how these movie stars fall in and out of "love" so quickly. I mean how is your soul mate or great love in the same career field as you? Would they be destined to be single if they only hung out with the common folk? Can I only fall in love with someone in the field of education? Okay...tangent...but let's get back to Tom.
I watched an interview with Tom and Matt Lauer this morning on The Today Show where Tom verbally chastised Matt for not knowing enough about psychiatric medicine, care and drugs. Hmm...last time I checked Tom only graduated highschool. I didn't realize he had a doctorate in any kind of medicine. Oh wait!! Silly me....he studies Scientology. Now, I have nothing against Scientology or people practicing it. Quite frankly, I find it intriguing though I know little about it. I understand people like to be passionate about their beliefs, but his interview was off the deep end: yelling at Matt that he needs to study up on this basically hoax of a science (psychiatry) especially since he's a reporter/journalist.
Now...do I believe in psychiatric medicine? I don't know. I've never had to take anything, but I know people who do and benefit greatly from it. I've also seen people become too dependent on it and I blame that on poor counsel from the doctors. I also think (due to poor counsel) that people -especially children- are overmedicated and often become physically dependent on these medicines.
What's this blog stemming from? The fact that Tom is just plain weird now. Go on with your bad self and your young girl and your strong Scientology beliefs....but, don't do it soooo out loud. You're on the border of fanatic, Tom.

***Update....here is the interview.

Good Readers, Arf! Arf!

Well...the past two blogs have definitely been good ones as for all the comments. Thanks readers for your two cents (and for you lurkers....hope to hear from you soon!! --I can say this because I'm a lurker on other blogs as well.)

Maybe John Gray is right...Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars

In other words women are full of love and men are little green men with antennae.

I'll be posting another comment-laden blog tonight or tomorrow....sneak peak on the topic here.

Singles...Speak Out!

After reading Jay's Excuse Manifesto, I thought I'd post on mine as well: Why are we single? At times when I'm feeling insecure, I use the "I choose to be. I don't want to be hassled with a relationship...I have a lot of things to accomplish." Which...in all honesty...is probably total bullshit. I don't really know why I'm single. It's definitely hard to find someone out there and I think as I'm getting older, I'm willing to put up with less (cranky old spinnster that I am!) I do have "deal breakers" but, they aren't so much breakers as they are a checklist of what I want. I don't think I ask for much, but maybe I do?
When I was in my late teens/early twenties I used to believe in "the soul mate." Now, I don't think so. I think it's all timing. Timing on women's part, but (and here goes) more of a timing factor with men. Timing used to consist of (for me) date 3 years, engaged a year or so, married 3-5 years and then kids. Well, that idea went out the window long ago. -now don't hold me as responsible as Oprah was with the whole beef thing- I think women can be ready almost anytime. I think that we're a little more accomodating than men and don't have a "timing" issue. Men, I think when they want to settle down, they do. Maybe they have a more clear mind when they're going to do it and can pick through the women.

I don't really know where I'm going with this...

Honestly, I could get married tomorrow...if I found the right person. Now don't take it as I'm willing to jump into any relationship and get hitched to the first guy who says "I will, I might or I maybe." Time isn't an issue anymore for me. If I find the right guy, I'll do it in a heartbeat. However, I find myself being really picky over the right guy. Too short, too dumb, not ambitious enough, too old, too young....too, too, too. I don't know if it's me not finding what satisfies me or maybe I'm afraid of it being the right guy--see that episode of SATC when Carrie realizes/thinks she's a commitment-phobe.

Onto another comment of Jay's and PastryDad's (see his entries) Why do we choose people that our friends know are so wrong for us? Not sure...but, I've definitely been one of those. I do agree with Robin (see her comments on PastryDad's) that maybe it's self-fulfilling..."it's worth it more when you have to work at it." A little emotionally masochistic, but I'm there with you girl...I've done it a million times.'

So, I don't know if this entry makes any sense at all...but, if you're single out there....why are you? Maybe you're answers will help me to figure out mine.

Okay...mull this over while I think about you all at the pool!

Beauty and stuff....

Went to the Saks to the Nars make-up counter yesterday and got a make-up makeover. It was awesome. I was thinking I was getting stuck in the same colors and same appearance. Gabriel did an awesome job and I spent $72 (which wasn't too bad.) I wasn't crazy about the way the one woman did my foundation (too much...I felt like a corpse and by the end of the day my face felt like a grease pit) but, I LOVED the way my eyes looked!! (Thanks Gabriel) I was wearing blues and teals which I never thought would look good...they looked awesome. And I fell in love with the make-up artist...of course he's gay. (Big surprise for me to be attracted to a gay man.) However, if you are a gay man and live in Chicago...look this Puerto Rican hottie up! I got this color, this color and this color.
Later on we went to Girasole for lunch. It was pretty good. I had polenta with white beans and escarole. It was excellent. Our Growing Up Gotti waiter was an ass though. I still like the Gypsy better.

Today I'm taking Neville to Christian Clay Winery to a benefit for the local animal shelter. Should be cute.

I'm tired today.

Flowers, Tunnels and Bunnies

One more reason to get a boyfriend...
As Robin just posted I remember one other funny (well maybe not so funny) thing that happened at my friend's wedding. The bouquet toss comes up. Now, when I was 18, 20, 21...I couldn't wait to get to that. The thought of catching the bouquet and being the "next" to get married was exciting. Now that I'm becoming bitter 29, I dread it. So I thought, I'll just sit quietly, enjoy my glass of wine and hide out behind the scenes. Nope. Over the mic I hear, "Molly. Molly. Come on up!" Actually I think I heard, "Lonely single woman! You might catch it and who knows? Come on Spinnster. Get your drunk ass up here. It's your last resort!" Now. If I had had a date I wouldn't have felt so stupid going up amongst the fianceed group of women boxing out.

Thought you'd appreciate that.

One more reason to get a boyfriend...I think I have Carpal tunnel in my right hand. Well, either a boyfriend or the Charlotte's "rabbit."

Working Out and Working In...

So I'm really sore...but I feel good. Yesterday started my new (and permanent) regimine of working out hardcore. I realized that the reason why I was soooo skinny in highschool was because of a couple of reasons. 1. I swam 2 hours/day 6 days/week. 2. I didn't drink alcohol (that much.) Therefore...workout/diet mode is in highgear. I'm definitely eating healthier. I'm walking 3 miles each morning at 6:30, lifting 3 days a week and swimming 3 days a week AND I just started Yoga today. I'm not very good, but I like it. It was sooooo good this morning because I could hardly move after lifting yesterday. It also reminds me a lot of swimming because it's a time period where I talk to no one. Now I love to talk. Trust me...I LOVE to talk, but even this mouth needs a break. I'm also always on the go somewhere and geared up for something. I'm hoping in the fall there are Yoga classes I can get to (or I become a disciplined guru and can easily do it in my home.) In any sense...it's work on me.
Speaking of work on me...after my so fascinating tarot reading at the Gypsy, I now know that I need some personal spirit work. Sounds like I have issues, but I'm not crazy. I just need to get a little grounded. -a little...I don't want to become boring. I'm hoping that job will settle me in September into my own place and a little more cash. I'm also vowing to blog every other day and work on my own personal writing (whatever the book of the day is!) This is definitely where I need to become more focused and disciplined. Any suggestions?
I volunteered yesterday at a Make-A-Wish golf outing in town. It was really nice though the turnout wasn't as good as the past years (so I was told.) I'm glad I've been involved in some charities this year. It's a good feeling to help.
Dating status...still single.
Wanting to date status...not looking. (today)

Weddings, Bachelors and Getting Old

Went to a wedding last night of a friend. I went dateless and well, it kinda sucked to be dateless at a wedding. Why bring sand to the beach, right?? Wrong. This beach was mainly coupled and the single ones live 3000 miles away in sunny Cali. So in good single girl spirit I got drunk. Not on purpose...Captain Whoopass came up and smacked me. Thank God my 8-month pregnant friend drove me home or I would have either spent $300 on a room or called my mother to pick me up. The wedding was beautiful, though.

Few funny things....
In good, confident single-girl style I told the girl next to me that "the guy I'm seeing is working this weekend." I know...but I felt stupid sitting there at the wedding alone. In my mind he is a reporter of some type and he was researching a story.
Next...on the 15-20 minute ride home I started getting woozy. REAL woozy. Literally .3 miles from my house I had to boot. Bad. So I rolled down the window and threw up as we were driving. My friend pulled over and I hurled again. Hitting the inside of the door. Funny thing....it was my mom's car since mine is in the shop. So this morning as I was cleaning puke off of my dress, and the car...I giggled. Here I am almost 29 in less than a month and I'm puking from a wedding. Real mature. (But, I looked damn cute in my CK dress and LAMB purse!!)

Other funny events...I went to a "Bachelor Auction" on Friday for the American Cancer Society. A friend of mine was in it and his girlfriend wasn't too happy about it. I was the ringer to bail him out. (He paid for himself of course.) Anyway...there was another bachelor that I kinda felt like was hitting on me. After a few drinks I sent my bachelor friend over with my phone number. I woke up in the morning and was like "I can't believe I did that!!" Totally not my type. 5 years younger than me, short and a cop. What was I thinking? Plus, now my picture is probably going to be in the paper because I "won" my bachelor. Great. I'm just glad school is out as I'm sure one of my kids would have seen it. And, I'm sure will see it. Especially the one who said to me last week, "Are you looking for an old classmate? You could find him or someone on Eharmony. Have you ever heard of that?" Even my kids want to set me up.

Ironic...last week I was just saying how I like being single and don't really care to get married anytime soon and today after the wedding and watching A Walk in the Clouds -Keanu is terrible but, I love the story-I'm feeling blue about being alone. Maybe I do want a boyfriend for my birthday. And, speaking of birthdays...I know this one is going to suck. I cried my eyes out at 24, 25, 26...27 was really good, 28 was a little hard. I just know 29 is going to put me over the edge. Yes, I'm officially one of those women that has issues with getting old.

**Updates....check my links section as I've linked my fav restaurant off of it. And, finally Doug has updated his blog. Leave a comment and maybe he'll feel guilty and update more often.

Future Reminiscing.

Well...this is it. The last day of school. I actually can't believe it's over. The year went pretty fast at the end. Last night was the retirement dinner of four of our employees. It was bittersweet. I'm happy that they are leaving and can live their lives in relaxation (I think they deserve that for working 36-37 years in the classroom.) However, our building will greatly miss their presence. I started thinking last night (and got kinda sad) I wonder what stories will be told of me when I retire. It's amazing the family and community you can build in a school. The stories last night ranged from gut-wrenching laughs to silent sobs. All in all it was a wonderful night and I hope that someday I can be remembered as wonderfully as these four people.

Gypsy...again!!!!

So I'll be honest...while I am a food lover, I don't usually have a craving for a certain restaurant. Certain food...well maybe. Like chocolate. Mashed potatoes. Champagne. But....this place is the best. Again, The Gypsy Cafe has made a posting. Renee, Danni and I met. (Shonda didn't make it this time, but we will be eagerly awaiting her next visit.)
Food--I didn't want to try something different, but I did. The Portabella scampi I had the last time was soooo good, but I tried something different and IT WAS GREAT!!!! We had the same pre-fixed menu option chosing an app, salad and entree. Fortunately because we're "regulars" (and I say that lightly because WE condsider ourselves regulars) they let us have hummus instead of soup as our first course. It was just so damn hot outside, I don't think we could have taken it. Anyway...we had the cannelloni (sp?) stuffed with salmon, ricotta and asparagus. OMG!! Wonderful. I (think) the pasta was homemade as well.
I can't decide what was/is the best part of this place: the atmosphere or the food. I love this place with my girlfriends and SERIOUSLY won't share this place with a date until it is with my potential husband. That is how special/wonderful it is. Kudos to the Gypsy. (We saw the owner as we walked in and she so graciously remembered us and our table....yeah...obviously...I'm hooked.
The Tarot reader wasn't there...and we did want our cards read...but, hey...doesn't everyone need a break sometime??? (I'm just selfish and want her at my disposal!!!)

Other than that...I have 4 days left of school and I cannot wait!! It is a blazing 100 degrees in my room and I'm eagerly awaiting the exit of my students. I'm hoping it was too hot today and they won't want to come tomorrow. Even a few out makes difference. Bittersweet...because even as much as I've bitched about them...I actually think I'll miss them. You love to hate 'em.

I will link Gypsy in the next few days...I'm too tired tonight.

I had a Yada, Yada, Yada

I arrived at 7:20, he arrived just after 7:30. We finished our drinks at the bar, moved to a table. I had the tilapia, yada, yada, yada I was in the car going home at 8:55. The best part...not the tilapia...but probably the first drink (that I bought because I was there early.)

Well....first date. Ehhh.... He was nice. But, not as tall as he claimed (I hate that...I don't like short men)....and quite frankly...too old. Nice, but we're on different mindsets. He's thinking of retiring in 10 years, I'm just getting started. He also mentioned A LOT of different dates he'd been on off of Match. I'm thinking (thanks to my sister's insight) he's a serial dater. Dates anyone he can. But, all in all, I went. It wasn't horrible...but, not great. Hopefully it will get the ball rolling for more dates in the future...just not with him. I think I'm going to wait to actively look for a boyfriend until I move. If a date comes up, I may go...but, we'll see. Quite frankly I realize...I'm pretty happy doing my own thing. (It's just when I watch those sappy, romantic comedies that I want a boyfriend. Like today after watching Wimbledon I want a British, tennis-star boyfriend.)

Memorial Day party today so I must get showered and await my guests!!

Blah, blah, blahs

So I have a date tonight....with "old guy." I don't know why, but I'm soooo not excited. It's almost like anxiety of not wanting to go is making me sick. I have a headache. My neck hurts. My leg fell off. You get the point.

I'm going....but unwillingly. Why? I don't know. Maybe I have the "blahs." (Thanks Jay for coining the term...I'm taking over the symtoms.)

And, I'm complaining....you may say, "Weren't you just bitching about not having a date?" Yes. "Are you complaining now that you do have a date?" Yes. I'm fickle. I'm a bitch. I know. I don't know...maybe it'll be good. We'll see. Old guy says, "I think I'm excited." I reply back with....well, nothing. I didn't reply at all. I know...I'm a bitch. But, that's what makes me cute, right?

I'll post you tonight.

Gypsy Cafe and Gypsies

The girls went to the Gypsy Cafe in the Southside tonight. EXCELLENT!!! It's a mid-eastern influenced restaurant with a really cool atmosphere (purples, reds gypsy-esque) and the food was soooo good. For $20 (on Sundays only, I think) you can get their Prix Frix (sp?) menu. A choice of roasted red pepper, garlic or scallion hummus with pita, choice of two soups (lemon rice with asparagus and something else) or house salad with homemade dressing or tabouleh (sp?) and a choice of entree-scallion gnoccis, leg of lamb with garlic mash, portabella scampi with shrimp over pasta or scallops over couscous with roasted veggies. I had the portabella as did Renee and Shonda. Danni had the scallops. Everything was wonderful, priced great and great portion size. BYOB place with a $5 corking fee. Of course we brought a big bottle...(thanks Renee, next time it's on me.) The conversation was good as always....and they had a woman reading Tarot cards. Yes, of course I had my cards read.

****It's been a looooongg time since I've indulged in the "other world" stuff, so I felt like I deserved it.

For $15 I had an excellent reading. (I know you probably think I'm crazy but I love this shit and I believe that there are people out there that "know.") Anyway...she told me what I needed to know-aka what I know, but don't want to face-and a few other tidbits of interesting things. All in all...good reading, and it motivated me to do the things I've been avoiding.

I have a few other ideas for some fun blogs, but tonight I'm just too tired. Four hours of yardwork, good dinner conversation and the reading just tuckered me out.

I TRIED to call out the serial commenter on my blog, but apparently he is afraid to respond. Way to be!

****One more thing on his comments....as far as my "Seinfeldian" outlook. Sorry, honey. Wasn't a fan of Seinfeld ...SATC, maybe. Maybe I'm just that brilliant and should write my own sitcom then. hehehehhh...Since I'm soooo perfect.

Alright...off to bed. Goooooodniiiightt....

NYC Weekend

Great weekend. Perfect weather. The walk was really amazing. And, of course...the company was perfect as usual.

Got there Friday night...great time with very little traffic. Dan broke me in on his Christina Aguilera beer bowling table. Katie (roomate) came in with Erica and Chachi-(love that name.) We drank too much, laughed too much and learned how to hook up Dan's iPod to the karaoke machine. It was a blast. "I believe in a thing called love..." It's funny...when a microphone is in your hand, you're almost guaranteed to talk into it when asked a question or commenting. Very fun.

Saturday Dan and I met Robin and Jay for brunch. Very tasty. Finally met Jay...likewise...it's nice to put a face with words. Thanks for the prizes. I just ate two pieces of the candy and the Mr. T In Your Pocket has been hours of fun. Neville doesn't like it too much, but I'm getting a kick out of it. Dan and I layed in the park and watch a gazillion cute babies and families. Times like that I think, awe...I want a boyfriend/husband/family. Then I got stung by a bee. Good thing though, as I squeezed out the stinger to find...I'm not that allergic anymore. It just swelled a little. Thought, it was itching like a mutha fucka last night.
Later on we headed to dinner at MaryAnn's (cheap good Mexican food) with Anita...and went on Dan's second date with Went. Cute, funny nice. Me likey, Dan. *Watch out sista as I might make a dash to turn that gay boy for this "perfect"girl. (Sorry, I'm still referencing Steve "Carbomb" Carbone.)
Next we went to Karaoke at Sing Sing adding Katie and Barry to our group. I love this place. Private karaoke. Went (Kenny Rogers) has quite the voice serenading us with "Lady." Katie (The Darkness) did her energetic "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." Anita (Wheatus) reminisced with "Teenage Dirtbag." Barry (Snoop w/ Pharrell) flowed with "Drop it Like it's Hot." Dan (Gwen Stefani) gave us attitude with "Hollaback Girl." And I (System of a Down) invited everyone to my guilty pleasure while rockin' "Toxicity." We hit The Library next and then headed a cab home.
Got up early the next morning for the AWNY. Great time. Pretty organized, too. It was extremely crowded, but I didn't really mind. I was amazed at the diversity of people there. Yound, old, black, white, Asian, men, women, gays, straights...it was really kinda moving. Sad to see the t-shirts on small children saying "Remember Nana Virginia" and happy to see the unity of people in a cause. I'm glad I was a part of it and hope to be next year and the years to come. AWNY raised over $5.8 million. Our team is close to $1400 with more checks coming in. I hit $550. Thanks to all of you who helped.
Being tuckered out from the 10K walk, we headed to lunch and then back to Dan's to sit for a little with his friend Erin joining us. We sat and chatted, had some wine and well...here I am at home, blogging about it.
It was a great weekend. Thanks Dan for having me.

First Thing is First...

Okay...so I will post about the AWNY and my weekend, but first thing is first.

When I left the question of whether a man is too old or too young or whatever, it was a question. I didn't state that I WOULDN'T date certain type of person. But, if I want to say that...well, it's my perrogative, Brittany.

Now..."Steve Carbone" aka "Larry King" aka "Annonymous"....................

"I'm SURE its entirely the lack of mature eligible men why the perfect, single women posting here can't find the "right" guy."
If your comment of me being perfect was sincere, thank you. That's kind. However, if it was in jest, I'm not appreciative. One...I have never claimed to be perfect. No one is. And, if I choose to "nit-pick someone to death" well, then I suffer the consequences. I have been on both sides of the fence. I'm not saying it's right, but I didn't ask for your comment on how to run my life. Trust me, I do a great job of fucking it up on my own.
"Straight guys are so imperfect and disappointing!"
Absolutely!! I love the gays!! They love me as well...there's just the obvious problem....the whole sexual preferrence. In fact I met such a great gay this weekend, that I kicked around putting up with the no-lovin' aspect. Kicked around...a girl's gotta have it, ya know? Translation...this is why dating is so difficult and why we pick. Sexual attraction gets in the way. Come on now, you saw When Harry Met Sally?
"As for the maturity issues...I don't understand how a person can say "men are so god damn immature." Depends on where you look, I guess. Statements like that and the one about men not being mature at ANY age are pretty insightful."
Don't remember saying that...but, if I did, I did "Steve." Glad you took time from your "computer programming" career to think about insight. It's very insightful to speak your mind...especially when you attach Steve Carbone to the words.

Lastly, I have met many "perfect" men. And, many of them have dumped me (or never even began things) for superficial reasons. Did it bother me? Of course. However, if that was their reason for dumping or what-not, then it probably wouldn't have worked out anyway. Plus, I haven't dumped or not dated guys for these reasons you stated. And, to update you...

"Dumb guy" I tutored him. I didn't try to seduce him.
"Old guy" We're emailing. We'll see what happens.
"Veggie guy" He called once and then never called again. (Must have been the pork chop I was eating on the phone.)
"Young guy" Jury is still out. I can read him as well as a Organic Chem book in Braille.

So, before you pass judgement on why this perfect single girl can't find the right guy...get your facts straight. I'm not completely at fault.

Does Age Make a Difference?

Off to NYC tomorrow after school for AWNY. We're just under $1000. Don't forget folks. It's not too late to get rid of that spare change you have laying around-the link is on the page. Thanks to those of you who have donated. It means a lot.

I haven't packed yet which is typical. I think I'll get up at 5 and do it then. Supposed to rain this weekend. Last time I was there it practically flooded.

I'm looking forward to the drive. I know that sounds nuts, but there is something really healing about a long drive with you and the radio. I will be practicing my Karaoke skills for Saturday.

Opinion time...(figure I'll get a good one going while I'm gone.) What do you think about dating someone much older or younger than you? (I finally emailed a guy back who has emailed me a few times. The only thing I'm apprehensive about is that he is a bit older than me.) What's the biggest age difference you would do? Does it make a difference? Can personality override the gap? I know some people who have and even married someone much older than them. Shit, my great aunt and uncle were 25 years apart. (I know...sounds creepy, but they were married forever!) "Nunya" I think is too young. Only a year younger, but too immature and unreliable...I'm ready to dump that chump, again.
Okay...I'll leave you to chew on that. More exciting stories after the weekend.

Kinda Cute

Yes, I'm still up. The Wedding Singer is on TV. This has to be one of my favorite movies. Even though Adam Sandler has the curly mullet in here, he's kinda cute. And, I love George (bandmate form of Boy George.) I also love the song that he sings at the end on the plane...

Am I lovesick tonight? Maybe...or maybe the wine.

Sidenote...

I"m soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited to go away this weekend. I need this once or rather more that once in a while. Dan, I'm searching for a new Ludacris song to Karaoke. Hmm...maybe I'll have to choose a new artist! STRANGELY...I've been turning to the country station(s). Maybe it's the Renee Zelweiger thing.

I'm blogging a lot tonight.

Connected

I'm connected now. Ya'll can email me from my profile link.

I'm watching the end of SATC. I love when Big comes and gets Carrie. However, I love the quote she has to Alexsander before that...the bit about relationships and wanting a full blown relationship, can't-to-be-without-you relationship...

It's times like these where I want this type of thing. I guess the wine is kicking in...

I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend away.

Horoscope for tomorrow....
Romantic
After family, the very top of your priority list has always been reserved for friends. So when one of them invites you out to meet someone they're sure you'll just love, don't argue. This time, they could be right.
hmm...I'll wait for the invite.

General
That old star shine is shining all its starry-shininess down on you tonight. You're like the star of your own private aurora borealis. A few gazers are going to look your way.
I'm waiting for your eyes!!!

Horoscope Obsession

I forgot to paste in my horoscopes....and I did meet someone else who looks for good horoscopes and bases decisions on them...(thanks Becca for making me feel normal.) She also reminded me of another thing I do with them. Whomever the significant other or potential, I will look up their horoscope as well and adjust accordingly. I know...but you all have your vices, too.

Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Even snails come out of their shells when they see another snail who makes their heart go putt-putt. Make like a lovesick snail today. Come out of that shell and start an ooey-gooey track in their direction!
I felt like I did this...ah, not really. My email was bland. I'll need coaching.

Romantic tasks need completing, not competing! That is, you need to call them, not get into a big competition to see who calls whom first. But you knew that already.
Ugh...tough one to task. I know this game is going on... I HATE calling. Who was that anonymous commenter?? Telling me something??

Weird Science

Congratulations to Uchenna and Joyce for winning the Amazing Race. I would like to think I could do this, but I'm not sure. That is some tough stuff. They just seemed like such a nice couple. Congrats to Amber and Rob for coming in second. (Way to put the Westminster name out again!) As for the 3rd couple...I didn't really like them. I don't like when couples air their dirty laundry like that. So you fight, fine...fight nice. Work on your problems, but jeez. Be nice about it.

Speaking of amazing races.....just a few days left to donate to the AWNY. Check out the link!!!

I'll be heading out on Friday. I'm excited. It should be a fun weekend (as always) with Dan and friends. Looking forward to brunch with Robin and Jay. Robin and I will be eagerly awaiting our prizes for the contests, right Jay??

Other than my trip for the weekend, not too much is new. I've half-way begun my newest endeavor. I'm training for the a master's swim team league (swim team for adults if you will.) oooh wait....I did remember something kinda funny.

So in college my old roomate and a few friends made up this character. "Wayney." Wayney is this strawberry blondish, red-haired early teen who is kinda chubby and really annoying. (I'm doing this from memory, so a few details may be askewed.) Anyway....Wayney had this really annoying, squeaky/whiney voice. Kind of like you might hear his name if you said it in your head. Well, while in the pool last week, I needed to share a lane. The easiest lane was with this kid who was walking in the pool. He apparently was walking because he "forgot" his goggles. So in my teacher-type voice I say, "Hey, Honey. Do you mind if I share your lane?" He agreed and I began to swim around him. After about 800 yards I noticed he suddenly had his goggles. Ugh. Great. An early teen kid, kinda chubby, strawberry blondish/red-haired....wait a minute. IT'S WAYNEY!! Oh my God. It was almost like Weird Science. Instead, we created Wayney. But, I don't believe we were wearing bras on our heads and Wayney definitely wasn't to date. So I ran into Wayney yesterday, too. I saw his chubby foot dangling in the pool as I headed down the lane. I knew it was time to quit. As I came up taking my goggles and cap off at the same time, preparing to dash away, Wayney says, "Can I-I-I shaarre youurrr lane?" "Sure Big Guy. It's all yours." Ugh, annoying.

Do you think I could create a boyfriend and possibly meet him? Great...now I have the Weird Science theme song in my head.
*Everytime you say "Wayney" you have to use your "Wayney" voice.

Babble...

Daily Horoscope:
Well, if you aren't a fountain of fantastic flirtatious energy today! You're bubbling! You're sparkling! You're providing good, fresh, healthy, hydrating flirtation for the whole darn village!

Good thing I stayed home today. (Now you see why I search for a more befitting one...) I can't say I did much either. I did run to the grocery store, post office and made myself a hair appointment. More a mental health day than anything. Crappy headache that started at lunch yesterday...damn kids ruin everything.

Went to Pittsburgh last weekend for Tracy's b-day. Saw the Earthquakers. This is a band that we used to see. They dress up like Amish people and play 80's pop/rock. I love the drummer. Wait, let me rephrase that. I lovED the drummer. Sniff, sniff. He left. And, the quit playing all the fun music. It was all mainly Metallica, AC/DC and GnR. Don't get me wrong, I like listening to those songs, but it's nice when it's broken up with some fun 80's pop stuff. I couldn't party too much anyway due to a test on Saturday morning. Saturday went to Todd's party. Jello shots were goooood. Got back to Doug's house and resumed my sleeping spot on the couch. Damn, I crashed hard. I even took a nap when I got back. Not a terribly exciting weekend, but fun none-the-less.
Jen...you'll be excited this week for my school. We have a rain forest exhibit coming in on Thursday. Rumor has it there are supposed to be monkeys there. I'm excited. I've always loved monkeys. I remember getting a hamster in 3rd grade and it of course died. Through the tears as my dad told me not to worry he would get another hamster, I said, "Could I get a monkey instead?" His answer,"Well, not really. You see. Monkeys are dirty and they poop everywhere." Needless to say, I settled for hamsters. I'm thinking he was thinking the same thing about hamsters, too. I gave them away the next year. Yuck. I can still smell the hamster piss from the cage. Gross. My kids will never have them. They run in that damn wheel all night, too.

Funny thing. As I pulled up to the curb of the post office, I opened my door. Of course I wasn't really paying attention and opened it as a car was driving by. He wouldn't have hit it, but politely waited for me to get out of the car before he drove past. Funny thing...he was driving a "Dent Wizard" truck. Wonder if that was a set up???

Speaking of Wizard. I'm reading the Wizard of Oz right now. I've never read it before. I'm reading it to my kids in school. Surprisingly, they are loving it. They're especially interested in finding the differences between the movie and book. Me, too. Maybe now I'll get though Wicked. Yes, Dan...I'm still reading it. Also reading In Her Shoes.

Enough babbling. I'll go to bed now.

Ted Bundy of Dating

NUNYA....yeah I have NUNYA.

My life is boring. No dating scene. I think I'm the Ted Bundy of dating. Everyone I seem to talk to disappears. Whatever.

...28 days left of school.

Off to Pittsburgh for the weekend. I will have more to post. More exciting news when I come back I hope!

A Way With Words

So it seems that I have a new reader. Yah! For years I've tried to put Uniontown into words. Almost impossible. Impossible for me, but finally my new reader has done it. For those of you I have shared stories with over the years, you'll love this one. Pechin's. I've taken a few of you there over the years to experience (sorry Smitty for making you afraid of a possible lynching.)

Thanks new reader!

Is Anyone Else as Crazy as Me?

Sometimes I think the things I do are pretty crazy. Not the risktaker way, but just, well, crazy. Does anyone else make decisions based upon your horoscope? I do that. Yes, I do. Not all the time, but if my "love forecast" or "career" scope looks good or bad, I will tailor the day to that. Is that strange? It's not consuming my life, but I definitely use them. Funny thing is, if I don't like the horoscope I read, I will search the net until I find one that makes me feel better. I know this is bizarre, but I never claimed to be normal. Other OCD issues that I have....

I won't step on the metal grates, manholes, or other metal "things" covering sidewalk holes. I will do everything to avoid them.
I read magazines from back to front first. (now I did find someone else who does that.)
I have to have hospital corners on my sheets-and I know when they're coming undone as I start to become restless in bed.
I drink my coffee from the side of the mug that is opposite the handle. (Especially in a restaurant.)

I'm sure there are other things that I do that are crazy, but these are a few. Why I'm admitting them to the general public...no idea. I was just thinking about them. Anyone have any strange habits?

Quizzes....I love em'

Okay...so I love quizzes. I just took Jen's quiz of what kind of coffee you are. Is this why I can't pick up a guy??

You Are a Plain Ole Cup of Joe But don't think plain - instead think, uncomplicated. You're a low maintenance kind of girl... who can hang with the guys. Down to earth, easy going, and fun! Yup, that's you: the friend everyone invites. And your dependable too. Both for a laugh and a sympathetic ear.

hmm...that doesn't sound like it will get me a date.

Take this one

What kind of coctail are you?

The bottom line is — you're a complete prize. Just like the South, you've got that fun, sweet, charming personality that immediately draws people to you. It appears that you embrace each moment fully and love to have a good time. You've got a gift for lightening up the mood with your silly sense of humor and with the unique levity with which you approach life.Let's not forget to mention your skills in the romance department — you've got the flirty moves that can attract anyone you've got your eye on. It's as if you cast your spell and there's just nothing left for the victim to do but fall for you completely. It's a great talent to have! And once people know you, they fall even further for your sweet, kind-hearted, caring ways that make you someone everyone wants to have around. So maybe it's time to order a cocktail that can complement your charm.

I like that answer better.

Quick Update...

I know it's been a while since I've posted, so here's a quick update.

Date boy...not sure. I have found out the he's very unreliable, but then started emailing again....whatever. I let my expectations run a little high with him and then forgot-he's a man. Jury is still out.

Got a few other emails. Eh. One is kind of interesting, but it makes me think of Jay's dealbreaker question. This guy (from reading his profile) is a vegetarian. I wouldn't care, but what if he was offended by me eating a big juicy steak? I don't think I could deal with that. Are people still vegetarians? I thought that was a 90's fad.

Tutored a guy down at one of the local colleges for a teacher test. Okay so I'm boy crazy and thought, "Ooh. What if he's cute?" Hmmm....hope he does okay because he was kinda dumb, duh, dumb, dumb.

Golfed on Sunday. Did pretty well for not golfing for 3+ years. (54 on the front and 60 on the back.) Ah... I forgot how much I love it. Have to thank Ex #3 for teaching me. Thanks. Also...thanks to Matt and Katie for going. Need a 4th next time...cute, single, employed, please.

Went to Bingo last night. I know, I know...but, it was worth it. I won $500. Couldn't have come at a better time either! (I bought a dauber, too...YIKES!) I just keeping thinking of the SATC episode when the girls went to play bingo. It was just like that as my friend Shawn and I went. Except it was in a fire hall, there were no drag queens (at least that were in costume) and I wasn't wearing Jimmy Choo's. But I still won $500. Yes!

Went to an Indian restaurant tonight in Morgantown, WV. Very good. I've never had Indian food before so my friend Lynn ordered for all of us. Very tasty, but I wonder if I'll smell like curry tomorrow at school? I'll just blame it on the kids.

I've also realized that I haven't been keeping my New Year's resolution by reading a book a month. I'm behind for April (I think I read two in February so that covered me for March.) I need to get on that. I also need to get disciplined in my writing. I have a fan-fucking-tastic idea on a book. Well, rather the ideas of the past have (hopefully) finally come to a head. Now I just need the discipline to write them together. Any ideas on how to keep focused and disciplined?

And, I just realized I haven't filed my state or local taxes yet. Oops. I need to do that, um, like now.

I've had some REALLY awesome dreams lately. I'm hoping the Indian food helps to follow suit.

I'll try to keep more updated on here. Maybe that will help me to kick my other writing in the ass, too.

Pimple Diddy?

Even P. Diddy is using Pro-Active. Brittany, Jessica and now Daddy. Okay, so I've been up since 4 and watching infomercials. Diddy kept saying "pimple" so often the word sounded weird. According to Puffy, he's got to keep his "sexy."

(Look how many ways you can refer to Mr. Combs. He's so cool he's even his own synonym.)

Thanks Puff Daddy for keepin' yo' sexy.

Don't Shake Your Baby!

I'm driving down the road today and I hear. "Please don't shake your baby. Put the baby down. Take a deep breath. Don't shake your baby. Are you stressed out? Don't know what to do? Just please don't shake your baby. Call 1-800-???????" Bizarre. I never imagined I'd hear this commercial on the radio or anywhere for that matter. I guess shaking your baby is more "popular" than I thought. I'm sure all types of people shake their babies, but I always think of white trash doing that. Is that wrong?
So in case you're worried...don't shake your baby.

Boy, That Was Dumb

So I was just reading my post from last night. Boy that was dumb. Okay...don't post when you're drunk. I'm sooooo nursing this hangover. And, what the fuck? Snow?? Are you kidding me?? Last time I checked it was April.

I Know This Will All Sound Bad...

I know this will all sound bad.

1. The Pope has left the building.

2. I like getting drunk on wine by myself.

I've had a girl's day, day to myself, alone time today. It's been fucking awesome. Ended up with a cold over Easter and then into an sinus infection so I have been happy to take it easy last night and today. Today I cleaned and then did some beauty stuff. If you're interested, check this facial out.
(This is my own mixture so use at your own risk...but it works!)
1 Egg Yolk
2 Teaspoons of Sugar
1 Bag of Green Tea.
Mix together and "smather" on your face. Leave dry about 30 minutes and rinse with warm water. My face is totally smooth and my pores seem smaller. Try if you like.

Other than that, I've done my nails, shaved my legs, deep conditioned my hair and have been listening to music (while watching the NCAA games) and drinking wine. I will say I'm slightly...well almost pretty drunk. I'm pretty when I'm drunk...I'm pretty fuckin' drunk! Who sings that?

I've been out with the "date" a few times this week. Still keeping it low. If/when it starts getting stable I'll divulge. Still NUNYA!

It's funny the music I'm listening to...I find it amusing how music can influence your mood, bring a memory, etc. I hate when I hear a song I've loved and then think about a past ex and I'm like, "Fucker. You ruined that song for me." I consider myself a mini guru of music. I like a lot of different types and can usually name the title and most of the time the artist. My last ex was an idiot with music as far as I'm concerned and ruined a lot of bands for me. Fucker. Oh well. I've recently been back to listening to my Violent Femmes cds (good gym music!) I forgot how much I liked them. I'm also realizing how hard it's getting to type when you're drunk. I'm pretty when I'm drunk....

April Fool's Day

Today is April Fool's Day. I remember when I was around 6 or 7 my dad told me he ran over my bike in the driveway as an April Fool's joke. I'm sure it didn't end up the way he thought as I started hysterically crying. I look back and I'm sure he felt bad, but I have to say...it's pretty funny now. It reminds me of that Jack Handy story of I told my nephew I'd take him to Disneyland. Instead I took him to a burned down factory and told him, "Hey. Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried....

Anyone have any good April Fool's jokes?

Terrible. F.

So I went to see Dogface tonight. Uh...it was the worst thing I have ever seen. Now I feel like I'm a fairly cultured person and enjoy odd and interesting literature and performances. This was 90 minutes I will never get back. Let's go through some of the things I saw this evening...

trailer...cross-gender acting women dressed like cowboys...man playing either mentally retarded guy or guy with CP...woman screaming most of her lines...lines I just didn't get...my breath because the show was in an old steel mill...MR/CP guy molesting screaming woman...grunting fake raccoon...fake raccoon attacking man's nuts...hamster bedding all over the floor...MR/CP guy simulating cunninglingus and "digital sex" on screaming woman...MR/CP guy bringing out baby skeleton that was smoking/burning and presenting it to audience...MR/CP guy showering in wooden shower and then turning around for full frontal nudity...MR/CP guy climbing in box after screaming woman...MR/CP guy and screaming woman covered in blood.

What the fuck?

I hope all the details didn't ruin it for you. It seriously was the worse thing I have EVER seen. My sister went with me and we were just speechless afterward. She said she needed a shower.

Terrible. F.

On the date scene....keeping quiet on this one. I'll let you know how it unfolds...really because I really have no idea what I feel or how it's going. And, Jay, you're right. I don't want to jinx it now.

Could It Be My Time??

Okay...so I went out on my date last night. It's scary...because nothing went wrong. He walked up and first of all-his picture does him no justice. F-ing gorgeous!!! I was actually ready to run because he was so damn cute. Nice. Educated. Smart. Funny. HOT! Successful. What's gives??? I hope it's not too good to be true. Though...I feel like I've put my dues in with asshole men. Could it be my time?

We met up for drinks, watched a few b-ball games and talked. He asked if we could do this again and I (coyly, though I wanted to be like Hell Yeah!) agreed. A hug goodnight and a request for me to call him tomorrow. I dropped an email saying thanks and that I would give him a buzz. Before I could call him....he called and suggested that we meet up later on this evening. Of course I was like, "Sure," but really was like "OH MY GOD!" Could it be my time?

And...I went shopping today. Dropped a ridiculous amount of money. Bought much needed bras and underware, 2 pairs of jeans and some shirts. Now, if you are a girl you know the ordeal of buying bras. UGH!! It always sucks and is depressing. Jeans...same feeling. Within an hour I bought 7 bras, 10 pairs of underware and the 2 pairs of jeans. So...good date, easy shopping...shit. Should I play the Powerball tomorrow? I'm feelin' pretty lucky. Could it be my time?

*By the way...tried on the new IPEX bra from Vicki's Secret...IT SUCKS!!! I'm glad as I did not feel like spending $47 on each bra.

Okay. Off to shower and primp for the evening. Hopefully, my luck doesn't run out. However, if it does, I still had a great time.

Nunya...

Okay...so I have a date on Thursday. I'm not saying too much as I don't want to jinx it (right, Jay?) So...until then. It's nunya.

Jesus, Freaks

Just watched Starsky and Hutch. Goofy, but kinda funny. I do love the BlockBuster rip off of NetFlicks, though. So convenient. Except, the envelopes are kind of flimsy and my one return envelop is missing something because it got ripped off in the mail. Oh well. It's convenient.

Went to church on Sunday for the first time in about 3 years. It was nice. Contemporary service...lost of music and the message was nice and had Pop Culture references. Interesting. I actually think I'm going to start going more often. Maybe I'll find a man there. Don't people always say that? Church or the grocery store? It certainly isn't going to be on Match. This is rude to say (wait...is church rubbing off on me??) but what a bunch of freaks have been emailing me. One guy emailed 3 times (I hadn't responded the first-or the second!) And, I'm sick of the creepy old men. Hello?? What part of a 28 wants a 59?? Gross. One guy has on his profile that a sexually submissive person is preferable. Um, why don't you just put down "Someone willing to be tied up in the basement for three days." No thanks. Oh what that $50 would have done. Honestly, I think I'll be glad when it's all over. I have too much other shit to worry about right now. Yeah...like which....well, I'm sure there is something better than perverts and dorks. Am I having a bad day?? Must be. Okay, so maybe church hasn't rubbed off on me yet.

Deja VW?

OMG! Today after seeing Million Dollar Baby (which was absolfuckinglutely wonderful) I stopped at the gas station to get some...well, gas. Anyway. I pull in and swipe my card through the card thingy and was waiting to authorize. It goes through and I reach to press the gas type...SHIT! I almost...almost I remind you....put diesel in my car. Six years ago in June I had only had my beautiful VW Passat about a month. It was a hot summer day. My A/C was blowing and my friend and I were heading out to do some shopping. I pull up to the gas station, leave the car running (it was hot, ya know) and put a FULL TANK OF DIESEL in my car. *Sidenote. My car is NOT A DIESEL.* I about died. I had to have my car towed to the dealership, tank drained and fuel system flushed. Fortunately, it only cost me $175...and a lot of embarrassment. However, today...it did make me chuckle today.

New Beginnings and Change?

Symbols of spring and Easter. Eggs, bunnies, green grass, tulips...all symbols of new beginnings and change, right? This weekend I had a girls' night as it seems that half of my friends relationships are falling apart or over. Okay, maybe not half of them but a few different ones. Whether taking a break, breaking up, or being in limbo...it's all change. It's all new. I started looking back at my relationships and I realize whether by coincidence or not. ALL of my major relationships have ended at this time. I'll be honest, I almost hate Easter for this reason. Not that Easter is a romantic holiday, but it is one that you would share with a significant other. Like Thanksgiving, it is a "swing" holiday. We can go to your house for Thanksgiving and mine at Easter. I love my family and always enjoyed having my boyfriends over for family dinners, get togethers or what not. Easter always left me in the dust. I can look back and even when I wasn't getting dumped (which was usually the case) I did the breaking up (once) and even had break-ups suggested though I desperately hung on at those times.
So...is it in the air? Does spring do this? Does planetary alignment suggest a change? (I know, I know...but I love the psychics!)
Does anyone have any happy stories of Spring relationships or are we doomed to be dumped every time we hear the pat of a bunny's feet?

Spring

I think I'm ready for Spring. Though spring is probably my least favorite season due to the rain, today is so pretty that I'm ready for it. Walking outside, sitting outside, fresh air. Then I checked the weather forecast. Hm. I think today is a fluke as for the next 10 days is snow on and off.

House arrest for Martha??? Stupid. She paid her dues. I've heard of rapists that get off with less. One thing I feel...she'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Debate, please.

Tasty

After 2+ years of quitting caffeine, I'm back on to it...only part way. The other night I made iced green tea. Yum. I haven't had this in sooo long. Though, I'm thinking green tea doesn't have as much caffeine. Am I right? Whatever...it's quite tasty.

True Love Does Exist

Every time I get discouraged or disgusted about dating something happens that makes me change my mind. Now, nothing has happened to me, but it's what I noticed.
My parents have been married for almost 38 years. They have been together for 43. Unbelievable for people that are 58 and 61. They have been together for more than half their lifetimes and are still, to this day madly in love. It's funny how you notice these things. Small jestures, looks and more importantly words. I'm not talking about "I love you so much! I could never live without you!" But, the stories that they tell.
My dad (who has been going bald for quite a while now) got a haircut today. He went for the "Bruce Willis" look which looks great on him. His hair was never kept long going bald, but it's super short now. Looks good. Now...he's had a shorter haircut before and everytime he gets it cut like that my mother tells the story of how in college he joined the ROTC and they buzzed his hair. My mom then nicknamed him "Henry" from some comic they read as kids. Hearing this story many times over the years has, I thought, made me numb to it. Heard it. Been there, done that. Today he came home with the haircut and my mother had someone in the house looking at jewelery...she sells it on the side. Anyway, my mom preceeds to tell this woman the story and my dad replies with, "I just told someone that story today." Cute. Lovely. What I hope to have someday. Someone who is in sync with me. Someone who shares my stories. Not just when I'm with them, but when something else happens while I'm away from them and at that moment...apart...we share the moment. True love does exist. And contrary to the movies...it doesn't die after marriage.
I know not all marriages are like this. They should be. My parents don't pour over each other, but they share their "moments." The one thing I love about their relationship is that they have their seperate lives and their life. They are friends. The best of. It does give me hope that someone like that, someone that is my friend is out there. It's refreshing.

There...now that's not as boring as the last entry.

Boring Stuff on a Day Off

I love Ellen. Two snow days in a row has given me the chance to watch her show. She's so funny. I remember seeing her on VH1's stand-up show (was it Spotlight Stand-up??) 15+ years ago and thinking she was pretty funny then. -I should be an agent as I predicted her success!!-

I also really like J-lo's new song Get Right. Catchy beat and melody.

It's snowing like crazy outside. I'm not exactly sure on how much I have in my backyard, but I'm guessing around 10 inches. I don't mind. It puts us to June 9 as the last day of school....but I don't really care. The kids never come anyway at the end of the year.

Not too much going on here today. I did watch Kill Bill Vol. 1 the other night. Not usually my kind of movie as I don't care for action movies, but it was pretty good. Just made me think of this....got a wink the other night from a guy who competes in Ultimate Fighting. All I could think of was when Monica dated the UF guy on Friends. Ha!

This is boring so I'll write more later.
